Biography
Shengyin (Sean) Shen is a research engineer in the Engineering Systems Group at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute. He earned his MS degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bristol, UK. His research interests focus on traffic simulation, traffic signal control, and cyber-physical transportation systems, including connected vehicle (CV) applications, connected and automated vehicles (CAV) testing, and evaluation. He has rich working experience in developing traffic simulation models, e.g., Augmented Reality CAV testing environment at Mcity, Virtual Reality environment in Corktown, Detroit, etc. He has developed CV-related applications in several large-scale CV deployment projects, including Safety Pilot Model Deployment (SPMD) and Ann Arbor Connected Vehicle Testing Environment (AACVTE). He was also involved in many research projects funded by public agencies such as USDOT, USDOE, Mcity, CCAT, and companies such as Crash Avoidance Metric Partnership (CAMP), Ford Motor Company, GM Company, Honda R&D Americas, Denso International America, etc.
