Areas of Expertise and Responsibilities
- Eric has experience running mobility pilots around the world, including looking at small, practical, connectivity solutions to support business, vulnerable road users, NGOs, and systems communicating basic vehicle information. At Ford Motor Company, he developed and implemented business model strategies for new mobility. He implemented pilot projects and developed teams for those strategies to deliver practical mobility solutions for car sharing, bike connectivity, and individual accessibility to mobility, etc. His innovation work at Ford was always through the lens of how mobility impacts environmental and social sustainability, staying invested in global and local trends shaping human needs and behaviors.
- He has been a part of numerous startups, including time in Silicon Valley. That experience has enabled him to stand up teams in small and large companies. He currently uses his experience as a lecturer for TechLab at Mcity, which is a special projects course at UM’s Center for Entrepreneurship.
- His graduate education at the University of Michigan includes studying biofuels infrastructure and the development of simulations to learn more about the potential impacts of biofuels on food availability, transport demand and ecology.
Biography
Eric Wingfield (UMTRI): Eric is currently the External Engagement Manager for UMTRI. He is responsible for developing and supporting the External Advisory Board, building relationships that support faculty goals and interests, and working on special projects.
