Data Analytics

Data analysis is crucial for transportation research.
UMTRI is home to terabytes of datasets and the scientists who use and analyze that data within research projects. Our data resources include:
- The largest set of connected vehicle data in the world
- The largest high-quality naturalistic driving dataset in the U.S.
- Thousands of whole-body human surface scans from adults and children in supported seated postures for use in modeling and simulation
- Public access to state crash data through Michigan Traffic Crash Facts
- The Mcity Data Engine for AI algorithms and data insights through machine learning
CAPABILITIES:
- Field DATA Collection
- DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
- Big data analysis
- Predictive analysis
- STATISTICAL MODELING
Providing access to annual state crash data.
Through its Michigan Traffic Crash Facts (MTCF) program, UMTRI provides public access to state crash data and provides sponsors with statistical analysis, visualization, and interpretation of all forms of transportation data.
The Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center (CJIC) and the Office of Highway Safety Planning, in conjunction with the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI), compiles and publishes the annual crash data.
The MTCF website is a five-time winner of the Best Traffic Records Web Page award presented by the Association of Transportation Safety Information Professionals (ATSIP).
