Dr. Zhang is a cognitive psychologist with extensive experience investigating cognitive processes critical to driving performance, including visual perception, attention, memory, and motor control. His research integrates behavioral testing, eye-tracking, pupillometry, and computational modeling to understand, predict, and mitigate cognitive errors during sustained attention tasks. He examines these issues across diverse populations, including young and older adults and individuals with ADHD. Dr. Zhang offers a unique perspective on the attentional and decision-making failures that commonly occur behind the steering wheel. His goal is to translate basic understandings about limitations of the human cognitive system into practical solutions for improving driving safety.
