Dr. Park brings over a decade of expertise in computational geometry, statistical human modeling, and advanced digital anthropometry. His core research focuses on developing statistical models that capture population-level variability in human body shape and behavior, using large-scale measurement data. These models are designed for direct application in real-world product design—such as vehicle occupant protection, ergonomic equipment, and healthcare solutions—enabling designers and engineers to evaluate diverse user interactions. A key contribution is HumanShape.org, an online platform that makes high-fidelity 3D body models accessible to users without specialized modeling expertise or expensive scanning equipment, bridging complex data with practical design needs.
Expertise: Statistical human shape/behavior modeling, Digital anthropometry, Computational/parametric geometry, Model-based product design, Markerless motion capturing, Vehicle occupant monitoring, Population characterization
