Biography

Helen has worked across a broad range of industries, ranging from optical sensing for aerospace, industrial machine vision, defense remote sensing research, and most recently in autonomous connected vehicle research at Ford AV/LLC and Quantum Signal AI.   She has worked on smart infrastructure based connected safety applications piloted in Detroit, Miami, and Mcity, filed a number of V2X related patents, and was on the Ford and QSAI research team that deployed an automated / teleoperated electric shuttle pilot project to deliver fresh food to a senior living cooperative in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit.  At UMTRI she is focused on enhancing the Connected Vehicle Environment and Smart Intersection model deployments with the goal of improving safety and enhancing equity and accessibility for all road users.
