Wheelchair Transportation Safety Open House

WHEELCHAIR SAFETY
Researchers from the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) , invite you to learn more about their exciting research in the area of wheelchair safety and automated vehicles.
Thursday, August 5th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM ET. This event is open to the public. Live automated captions will be made available for the duration of the presentations.
With funding by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), UMTRI researchers have recently completed research that developed an automated wheelchair tiedown and occupant restraint system incorporating the Universal Docking Interface Geometry (UDIG). This event will provide participants with an overview of the research outcomes and the potential impact on the lives of individuals who travel in wheelchairs. In addition, UMTRI experts also will share updates on wheelchair standards development and ongoing related work.
WE ARE EXCITED TO SHARE THE RESULTS OF OUR RECENT PROJECT FUNDED BY NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE SOLUTIONS THAT WOULD ALLOW PEOPLE SEATED IN WHEELCHAIRS TO TRAVEL SAFELY AND INDEPENDENTLY IN AUTOMATED VEHICLES.
