Bruce M. Belzowski

Bruce M. Belzowski, automotive analyst, received a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.A. from the University of Michigan (U-M). Prior to joining UMTRI, Bruce worked for U-M's Institute for Social Research and for R.L. Polk, where he was responsible for developing models of new car purchases and aftermarket spending. He joined Automotive Analysisas a research associate for the former Industry Structure Group in 1994.

Mr. Belzowski was a major contributor to most Industry Structure Group projects. He has authored research reports focusing on a variety of automotive topics including product development, manufacturer-supplier-dealer relations, globalization, information technology, knowledge management, and human resources. His current research topics include Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), powertrain strategies, and globalization of the automotive industry. He is co-director of UMTRIs China Automotive Program and Powertrain Strategies Program. He is also a steering committee member of the GERPISA global automotive research group in France and a Joint Researcher at the Institute for Technology, Enterprise, and Competitiveness at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan.

Mr. Belzowski's automotive consulting work has included presentations to manufacturer, supplier, and dealer groups, work with a number of clients on Delphi survey methods and issues, and work with major automotive consulting firms on supplier assessment on community automotive strategies. He is a frequent speaker on the automotive industry in conferences and in the media, as well as his testimony before the U.S. Congress.
