Data Science Group

The Data Science Group gathers, combines, and analyzes all types of transportation datasets to answer pressing questions in transportation safety and sustainability. DSG provides public access to state crash data through its Michigan Traffic Crash Facts (MTCF) program. It also provides sponsors with expert statistical analysis, visualization, and interpretation of all forms of transportation data, including data related to travel patterns, driver behavior, vehicle systems, crashes, and policy. With many years of combined experience in data analysis, DSG researchers develop new techniques to combine and statistically analyze these disparate datasets to reveal new information. Results of DSG analyses can allow us to better understand the factors that impact transportation safety and mobility, and identify the most effective crash and injury countermeasures.
