U-M Energy Symposium, February 13-14

December 19, 2006

U-M symposium to address energy challenges

"Energy Science, Technology and Policy: Facing the Challenge" will address future energy resources. Samuel W. Bodman, U.S. Secretary of Energy, will deliver the keynote address and dozens of university and industry experts (including Peter Sweatman and Walter McManus of UMTRI) will give presentations.

The University of Michigan launched an energy research initiative in September 2006 with the establishment of the Michigan Memorial Phoenix Energy Institute (MMPEI). This symposium brings together many influential people from government, industry, and academia to present their views on science, technology, and policy topics in the energy field.

The symposium takes place February 13-14 at the Rackham Amphitheater on U-M's main campus. The event is organized by the Office of the Vice President for Research and MMPEI.
