Research shows effectiveness, driver acceptance of integrated truck-safety systems

A five-year research program conducted by UMTRI in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Transportation has shown that integrated vehicle-based safety systems for heavy trucks not only reduce certain truck crashes but are "generally accepted" and even embraced by commercial vehicle drivers.
