Fuel-efficient car supplies stabilize

An April 7 article in The Plain Dealer quotes UMTRI assistant research scientist Bruce Belzowski on consumer reaction in 2008 when gas prices spiked: "Some people kind of panicked and bought vehicles that were more fuel efficient," he said. While gas prices eventually fell that year, bringing fuel-efficient cars to market became a priority for all automakers.
