Business of IT conference set for September 14

September 5, 2011

Rapid changes in information technology (IT) have reshaped the auto industry and transformed today's vehicles. Experts at UMTRI's Business of IT conference on Wednesday, September 14, will address the current and future role of IT both inside vehicles and inside companies.

The Business of IT: Transforming the Organization and the Vehicle will take place at the University of Michigan, Michigan League ballroom, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. UMTRI assistant research scientist Bruce Belzowski will introduce key issues and moderate the conference.

"This year's conference will look at the role IT plays in innovation," said Belzowski. "This theme plays into our division of the conference into halves, with the morning session examining how IT is supporting innovation within the organization and how it supports innovation in the vehicle itself. We look forward to hearing how companies are currently using IT for innovation and how they will use it in the future."

Conference speakers will include experts from manufacturers and suppliers who will provide their insights about the use of IT and innovation.

The Business of IT conference is part of the Focus on the Future automotive research conference series, coordinated by UMTRI Automotive Analysis. For conference details and registration, visit the Automotive Analysis website.
