54th annual Stapp Conference now underway
November 3, 2010
The 54th annual Stapp Car Crash Conference is now underway in Scottsdale, Arizona. The conference is the premier forum for the presentation of research in impact biomechanics, human injury tolerance, and related fields that advance the knowledge of land-vehicle crash injury protection.
UMTRI's Leda L. Ricci is the executive director of the John Paul Stapp Association. Research professor Lawrence W. Schnieder, head of UMTRI's Biosciences Group, is the 2010 general chair of the Stapp Advisory Committee.
Papers to be presented at this year's Stapp Conference cover a range of important topics in injury biomechanics and occupant protection. Topics include biomechanical test methods, data analysis, and ATD biofideltiy; injury risk assessment based on real-world data; head and neck injury biomechanics and anthropometry; injury biomechanics issues in military environments; injury biomechanics in lateral impacts; and thorax and abdomen biomechanics and testing.
