Attend the Stapp Car Crash Conference
The 52nd Stapp Car Crash Conference will be held on November 3-5 at the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas.
The Stapp Car Crash Conference is the premier forum for presentation of research in impact biomechanics, human injury tolerance, and related fields that advance the knowledge of land-vehicle crash injury protection. The conference provides an opportunity to participate in free discussion regarding the causes and mechanisms of injury, experimental methods and tools for use in impact biomechanics research, and the development of new concepts for reducing injuries and fatalities in automobile crashes.
Papers to be presented at this year's Stapp Conference cover a range of timely and important topics in impact biomechanics and occupant protection. UMTRI staff presentations include:
- "Interactions of Out-of-Position Small-Female Surrogates with a Depowered Driver Airbag" by Priya Prasad of Prasad Engineering, and Larry Schneider and Warren Hardy of UMTRI
- "Characterization of Knee-Thigh-Hip Response in Frontal Impacts Using Biomechanical Testing and Computational Simulations" by Jonathan Rupp, Carl Miller, Matt Reed, Nathaniel Madura, Kathy Klinich, and Larry Schneider, all of UMTRI
- "Development of a Finite Element Model to Study the Effects of Muscle Forces on Knee-Thigh-Hip Injuries in Frontal Crashes" by Chia-Yuan Chang, Jonathan Rupp, and Larry Schneider of UMTRI and Noboru Kikuchi of the U-M Department of Mechanical Engineering
UMTRI and the University of California, San Diego, are cosponsoring the conference.
