Evaluation of Pedestrian Injury Patterns

In the early 1990’s, NHTSA performed detailed investigations of pedestrian crashes. The data was compiled in the PCDS database. This project involved performing a detailed analysis of the database, including analysis of overall pedestrian injury patterns relative to vehicle categories and detailed analysis of lower extremity injury patterns. The project also involved a literature review relative to lower extremity protection for pedestrians.
