Two studies were conducted to quantify the postural and subjective effects of restricted headroom for drivers and passengers. The testing was conducted using a computer controlled vehicle mockup that allowed the roof geometry to be modified and positioned relative to the participant. Postures were recorded using a FARO Arm coordinate digitizer and subjective assessments were obtained with an oral questionnaire. Statistical analyses quantified the relationship between geometric aspects of the headliner position and shape and the responses of both drivers and passengers.
