Abdominal and Pelvic Response and Injury Research

Because of the limited data available on abdominal and pelvic impact response in lateral vehicle impacts, and some conflicting data on abdominal response in frontal impacts, additional studies on abdominal impact response and injury tolerance are being performed. Analysis of abdominal injury patterns and injury sources in the CIREN and NASS databases is being used to guide development of laboratory testing procedures. Data collected will allow specification of abdomen force-deflection response under realistic lateral loading.
