There is much not yet understood about the effect electronic monitoring devices may have on teen drivers' safety. There is a lack of controlled studies to determine these devices' safety effect or to examine parents' and teens' attitudes toward these devices. This study will: 1) determine the extent to which electronic monitoring technology affects (positively or negatively) novice teen drivers' driving behavior and outcomes; 2) measure parents' and teens' attitudes about the device, and determine whether and how having the device in the teen's vehicle affects parent-teen relationships.
