Sponsor: IBM
Investigator: Bruce M. Belzowski
06/01/2007 - 09/30/2007
This project will provide comparisons in the areas of PLM strategy, implementation, and integration, as well as the potential PLM benefits and business performance improvements that are achievable.
The PLM indicators for the study are used to define the maturity level of PLM of the participating companies. The hypothesis that strong PLM competency correlates with the corporate economic critical success indicators like market success, profitability, capital structure and investment behavior, will be assessed. The results of the study will allow for important conclusions on the achievable benefits of PLM and on the added value generated by PLM in downstream processes. The relevance of the different PLM dimensions will be assessed as well as PLM performance indicators that may have significant impact on engineering and manufacturing processes.
This study has been developed in collaboration with two universities in Germany and the UK. More than 30 automotive companies--OEMs and tier n suppliers--have already participated in the study in Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic and the UK.
Note: The Benefits of PLM project will not make comparisons between individual companies or identify individual company responses.
