UMTRI Project
Assessment of the Commercial Motor Vehicle Industry Deployment of On-board Safety and Security Systems
Sponsor: DOT - Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Investigator: John Woodrooffe
02/02/2007 - 03/01/2009
TSA researchers are working on a survey of the trucking industry for the FMCSA to assess the deployment and use of advanced safety technologies such as lane departure and collision warning systems, adaptive cruise control, stability systems, and vehicle tracking systems. The goal is to determine the extent to which these technologies are being used, who is using them, what users think of these systems, and the costs and benefits. By acquiring this information it will be possible to determine the effects of this technology on improving commercial motor vehicle safety.
