Six Sigma Green and Black Belt Public On Line Training Courses

Sponsor: Center for Professional Development
Investigator: Patrick Hammett
01/01/2000 - 12/31/2010

The Center for Professional Development (CPD) of the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan (UM) along with support from the Industrial and Operations Engineering Department offer Six Sigma training courses and University of Michigan Certification at the Green Belt (GB) and Black Belt (BB) skill levels. The Green Belt training consists of asynchronous distance e-learning and completion of a Six Sigma Green Belt industry project. The Black Belt course training is offered either as a College of Engineering Course (IOE/MFG 461) or as a Professional Industry Training course offered via asynchronous distance e-learning.

The University of Michigan continues to be a leader in professional e-learning training courses. The UM Six Sigma courses are offered via streaming audio/video and utilize interactive course tools for testing and participant-instructor communication. Over 1500 participants have enrolled in CPD's Green and Black Belt Six Sigma e-learning programs since their inception in 2000 with the majority of participants engaged in the Green Belt program.

This e-learning program is not for academic credit. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive four "CEUs" (Continuing Education Units) as opposed to academic credits. CEU credits may not be applied toward a degree. Additional information on the greenbelt program and minimum software requirements for distance learning courses may be found at the CPD website.
