Robert Sweet
Robert E. Sweet is UMTRI's information resources manager. He has headed UMTRI's Research Information and Publications Center (RIPC), which includes UMTRI's library, since 1997 and has been a librarian with the RIPC since 1991. He received a master's degree from the University of Michigan School of Information and Library Studies and a bachelor's degree in English from Wayne State University.
As head of the RIPC, Mr. Sweet manages the day-to-day operations of the library. He is responsible for the publication of the UMTRI Research Review as well as a monthly staff newsletter, and the editing, control, and dissemination of all UMTRI technical reports.
Mr. Sweet has a special interest in bringing about the goals of the Midwest Transportation Knowledge Network by working to develop regional transportation knowledge networks that will serve as models for a national transportation knowledge network and will build support for the National Transportation Library. Along with a select group of transportation information professionals, he is participating in a campaign to gain support for the goals presented in the Transportation Research Board Special Report 284, Transportation Knowledge Networks: A Management Strategy for the 21st Century.
