Dr. Michael Sivak is a research professor in UMTRIís Human Factors Group. He received a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Michigan. Examples of his recent research topics include road-safety trends, economic influences on vehicle-purchasing decisions and on road safety, interactions of safety and environmental countermeasures, demographic changes among drivers, eco-driving strategies, and monthly monitoring of vehicle fuel economy and emissions.
In 1987, Dr. Sivak established the Industry Affiliation Program for Human Factors in Transportation Safety, a research consortium that focuses on vision in vehicles. He is also the founder and Director of Sustainable Worldwide Transportation, a research consortium that addresses major road transportation issues worldwide. In 2001, he was named a Distinguished Research Scientist by the University of Michigan.
