Paul E. Green
Dr. Paul E. Green heads the Statistical Analysis Group in UMTRI's Transportation Safety Analysis Division. As a statistician, Dr. Green's research interests are focused on statistical modeling of crash data collected from complex sample surveys that include clustering, stratification, and weights. He is interested in data analysis of factors associated with risk to large trucks. In addition, he has developed Bayesian hierarchical models using Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling that generalize existing traffic models for accident rates. His other interests include analysis of exposure data and development of statistical methods for handling missing exposure data. Furthermore, the analysis of categorical data is one of his ongoing interests. Recently, he has been working on crash data analyses for heavy vehicle braking to estimate the potential reduction in crashes or crash severity if truck stopping capabilities were improved.
Dr. Green has over five years of teaching experience in courses ranging from introductory statistics for undergraduate students to categorical data analysis and Bayesian data analysis at the graduate level.
Dr. Green earned a B.S. in mathematics, an M.S. in statistics, and a Ph.D. in biostatistics from the University of Michigan.
