Patrick Hammett
Dr. Patrick C. Hammett is an assistant research scientist in UMTRI's Automotive Analysis. He is involved in research to develop and implement world-class manufacturing, quality, and management practices in the production and development of the automotive body. Dr. Hammett conducts research to assist the stamping industry in achieving world-class performance levels in product development lead-time and dimensional quality for automotive bodies. Dr. Hammett is a principal researcher and supervisor for several research projects to optimize the automotive body development process at General Motors Corporation and Fuji Dietec Corporation. He also serves as co-director of Six Sigma for the University of Michigan's (U-M) Center for Professional Development and is an adjunct assistant professor in U-M's Industrial and Operations Engineering Department, where he teaches courses on quality engineering, probability and statistics, Six Sigma, and introductory engineering design.
Dr. Hammett holds a Ph.D. in industrial and operations engineering and an M.S. in engineering from U-M, and a B.S. in engineering from Purdue University. Prior to joining UMTRI, he worked for General Motors as a manufacturing supervisor.
