Patrick Hammett
Dr. Patrick C. Hammett is an assistant research scientist and the manager of the Manufacturing Systems Group in UMTRI's Automotive Analysis Division. He is involved in research to develop and implement world-class manufacturing, quality, and management practices in the production and development of the automotive body. Dr. Hammett conducts research to assist the stamping industry in achieving world-class performance levels in product development lead-time and dimensional quality for automotive bodies. Dr. Hammett is a principal researcher and supervisor for several research projects to optimize the automotive body development process at General Motors Corporation and Fuji Dietec Corporation. He also serves as codirector of Six Sigma for the University of Michigan's (U-M) Center for Professional Development and is an adjunct assistant professor in U-M's Industrial and Operations Engineering Department, where he teaches courses on quality engineering, probability and statistics, Six Sigma, and introductory engineering design.
Dr. Hammett holds a Ph.D. in industrial and operations engineering and an M.S. in engineering from U-M, and a B.S. in engineering from Purdue University. Prior to joining UMTRI, he worked for General Motors as a manufacturing supervisor.
