Brad Liu

Dr. Brad Liu is an assistant research scientist in UMTRI’s Engineering Research Division working on projects related to vehicle system dynamics, active safety and advanced controls. His primary research interests include vehicle system integration, modeling and simulation, vehicle stability control, vehicle performance evaluation, roadway-vehicle interaction and virtual proving ground technologies.

Prior to joining UMTRI, Dr. Liu spent seven years engaged in research in vehicle system dynamics, dynamic system modeling, driving simulators and vehicle mobility, both at the University of Iowa National Advanced Driving Simulator and Simulation Center (NADS) and at the UAF Institute of Northern Engineering (INE). Earlier in his professional career, Dr. Liu was a faculty member of automotive engineering in the National Key Laboratory of Automotive Safety and Energy (ASE) at Tsinghua University. Dr. Liu possesses a Ph.D. in automotive engineering from Jilin University. His doctoral dissertation was in the area of non-steady state roadway-vehicle interaction for vehicle handling and shimmy analysis.
