UMTRI -UM Joint Initiatives
UMTRI's outreach for transportation research and education at U-M
Many U-M schools and colleges are involved in certain aspects of transportation, beyond the transportation safety research for which UMTRI is so well known.
We maintain roundtable dialog on transportation sustainability with a number of faculty who are well known in the fields of natural resources, life cycle costing, sustainability and accessibility, ethics, architecture, new urbanism, urban planning and land use and corporate environmentalism. For further information on UMTRI's transportation roundtable, please contact: transportationroundtable@umich.edu
We have identified a network of U-M faculty who are able to address innovation in powertrains and fuels, including barriers to implementation of new technologies in the automotive field. For further information on UMTRI's automotive innovation network at U-M, please contact: automotiveinnovation@umich.edu
UMTRI is a partner in the U-M's SMART Project (Sustainable mobility and accessibility research and transformation); SMART is creating a new transportation paradigm with knowledge, models and policies based on systemic thinking, transdisciplinarity and complex systems analysis. For further information on SMART, please contact Susan Zielinksi at: susanz@isr.umich.edu
