Connected-vehicle project wins regional 2012 research award
UMTRI's connected-vehicle project, the Safety Pilot Model Deployment, was one of several winners on November 2 at the AnnArbor.com 2012 Deals of the Year awards ceremony.
The annual black-tie event, held this year at Eastern Michigan University's student center, recognizes the business decisions that had the most impact in the region during the previous year.
The Safety Pilot Model Deployment won a research award for the size and scope of the project and for the collaborative effort with the U.S. Department of Transportation that made the study possible. As part of the project, several thousand vehicles in the Ann Arbor area are being equipped with wireless devices that communicate with each other and with roadside infrastructure to enhance safety.
