UMTRI's fifth annual Inside China automotive research conference will take place on Wednesday, November 7, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the University of Michigan (U-M), Michigan League ballroom (second floor).

The conference will feature insights by manufacturers, suppliers, consultants, and U-M experts on the current and future prospects for the automotive industry in China. Speakers will address joint venture manufacturer strategies from the foreign and domestic perspective, business practices, market updates, government direction, and a U-M China R&D Consortium on Clean Energy Vehicles.

UMTRI assistant research scientist Bruce Belzowski will introduce key issues and moderate the conference. Confirmed speakers to date include the following:

  • Keith Bradsher, New York Times Hong Kong bureau chief
  • Yi Lu, president, SAIC USA, who will provide the keynote address
  • Shawn Gayden, R&D manager, General Motors China
  • Yong Yang, senior economist, Asia-Pacific, Ford Motor Company
  • Claire Wang, general manager, SG Automotive Group

The conference is sponsored by the U-M Center for Chinese Studies and the U-M Office of the Vice President of Research.
