New report: Fuel economy, unemployment rate, cost of gas linked

Average fuel economy of purchased new vehicles, which has increased by more than 12 percent since late 2007, can be well predicted by high unemployment and gas prices, according to a study by Michael Sivak and Brandon Schoettle.
