July sees big jump in fuel efficiency of new cars

Crediting the Cash for Clunkers program, Michael Sivak, head of UMTRI's Human Factors Division, told The Associated Press that the average fuel efficiency of new cars and trucks sold in July increased from 21.4 to 22.1 miles per gallon.
