Unemployment, gas prices impact vehicle fuel economy

Since late 2007, average fuel economy of new vehicles purchased has increased by more than 5 percent, thanks in large part to unemployment and gas prices, according to a new report by Michael Sivak and Brandon Schoettle of UMTRI’s Human Factors Division.
