UMTRI 2008 Best Publication Awards

UMTRI researchers receive Best Publication Awards

UMTRI director Peter Sweatman recently announced the 2008 UMTRI Best Publication Award winners.

Michael Sivak, Juha Luoma, Mike Flannagan, Ray Bingham, David Eby, and Jean Shope won the award for their paper "Traffic Safety in the U.S.: Re-Examining Major Opportunities." The article was published in the Journal of Safety Research, volume 38, pages 337-355.

Two articles also received Research Excellence Awards:

• "Economic Theory Trumps Conventional Detroit Wisdom" by Walter McManus, which was published in Business Economics, January 2007, pages 53-60.
• "Body-Pillar Vision Obstructions and Lane-Change Crashes" by Michael Sivak, Brandon Schoettle, Matt Reed, and Mike Flannagan. The article appeared in the Journal of Safety Research, volume 38, pages 557-561.
