Report examines road safety in China

UMTRI recently released the report "Road Safety in China: Challenges and Opportunities" under the research program Strategic Worldwide Transportation 2020.

China has the world's largest population, is the second largest automobile market, and is the third largest world economy. China's economy is booming, resulting in a rapid increase in both the road infrastructure and the access to private vehicles. As a consequence, China faces unprecedented road safety issues. The report analyzes the Chinese road safety situation and identifies countermeasures that would address areas in which the total harm caused by crashes could be substantially and readily reduced.

Please contact Michael Sivak, head of UMTRI's Human Factors Division and director of Strategic Worldwide Transportation 2020, to inquire about the availability of the full report.
