Buses (BIFA)
UMTRI's Center for National Truck and Bus Statistics began the Buses Involved in Fatal Accidents (BIFA) survey in 1999. It provides the most reliable and detailed information on all buses involved in fatal traffic accidents in the United States. Implementation of the survey has enabled UMTRI researchers to accumulate knowledge specific to bus crashes and bus safety issues. In the U.S., the design and operations of buses are even more diverse than those of trucks.
