The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA) bases its 2004 FARS reports on Version 13Oct05 of the FARS files.

The data sets document 38,253 crashes (with 13,910 of them involving two vehicles), 58,414 vehicles, 94,086 occupants and 6,141 nonmotorists.

FARS elements have substantial changes for 2004.
