The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA) bases its 2003 FARS reports on Version 07Jul04 of the FARS files.

The datasets document 38,252 crashes (with 13,960 of them involving two vehicles), 58,512 vehicles, 94,807 occupants and 6,350 nonmotorists. New code values have been added for First Harmful Event (V23), Relation to Junction (V25), Make/Model (V109), Most Harmful Event (V146), and Related Factors (V228-231).
