The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA) bases its 2002 FARS reports on Version 22Aug03 of the FARS files.

The data sets document 38,309 crashes (with 13,689 of them involving two vehicles), 58,105 vehicles, 94,859 occupants and 6,326 nonmotorists.

Please exercise caution when using the variable Manner of Collision (V24). FARS has reassigned old code values with new meanings.
