NHTSA released new versions of the 1997 and 1998 NASS CDS files in June, 2000. Both datasets have a version date of May 25, 2000. One case was deleted from the 1997 dataset and many changes were made to the CDC clock direction in both files. For a complete listing of changes, please type "news cds" in adaas.

TDC system files were changed to the newer versions on September 20, 2000. New codebooks are available upon request and the codebook on the TDC web site will reflect the latest frequencies.

There were no code value changes or variable number changes to previously existing variables, however two new variables were added to the Exterior Damage section of the vehicle file, Variable 568 Primary CDC Clock in Degrees and Variable 569 Secondary CDC Clock in Degrees.
