The 2008 Maryland accident file contains 95,351 records, the vehicle file contains 175,208 records, and the occupant file contains 229,693 records, and the nonmotorist file contains 4,010 records.

Variables 157 through 177 describe the vehicle according to a decode of its Vehicle Identification Number. This data was derived using the VINDICATOR program from the Highway Loss Data Institute.
