Globalization of the automotive industry continues to accelerate as offshore manufacturers and suppliers open production facilities in North America, and North American companies invest overseas and throughout the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) region. This report, Workforce Planning for a Global Automotive Economy, focuses on the global strategies and challenges of automotive manufacturers and suppliers, but it’s main goal is to provide an understanding of the workforce challenges companies face as they globalize, including how to be the “employer of choice” in whatever area they locate. The report reviews how companies must perform “Workforce Planning” in order to understand their HR goals for all of the sites, and then details the challenges and opportunities of recruiting and retaining new employees as well as deploying current employees globally.
